Dr. Craig E. Ullom
Craig is the founder and President of Collegiate Parents, Inc. For 30 years, Craig has served in a variety of student affairs leadership positions at public and private, large and small colleges and universities including Eastern Illinois University, the University of Nebraska, Radford University (VA), the University of Georgia, the University of Miami (FL), Hendrix College (AR), and the University of Central Florida. As an associate faculty member in the Department of Educational Leadership, Craig teaches a graduate course on higher education administration. He has co-authored a chapter entitled Understanding the New Relationship, recently published in Partnering with the Parents of Today's College Students.
Craig frequently presents programs and conducts workshops on managing transitions, developing human capital, leadership, coaching, emotional intelligence, and partnership building. He holds a Doctor of Education in Adult and Continuing Education from the University of Georgia and a Master of Education in Counseling and Student Affairs from Eastern Illinois University. Additionally, Craig is accredited with the Hay Group, the Effectiveness Institute and William Bridges and Associates to conduct proprietary assessments and programs addressing various aspects of human development. Craig also is a Franklin Covey Certified Personal Coach and has completed several continuing education programs in coaching and leadership development.
Dr. Maureen Biggers
Dr. Maureen Biggers has nearly 30 years experience working with college students and parents, both in student affairs and in academic administration at a variety of private and public institutions such as the University of Miami (FL), Mercer University (GA), Schreiner University (TX), and Georgia Institute of Technology. She has been responsible for new student and parent orientation, student handbooks, parent newsletters, student leadership development team building workshops, and career potential seminars for undergraduate students. Maureen has developed pre-professional advising programs, academic orientation, freshman seminars, and retention interventions for underachieving students. Her experience also includes supervising the offices of Residence Life, Student Activities, Career Planning and Placement, Campus Security, Bookstore, Dining Services, Counseling, and Diversity. At Mercer University (GA), Maureen initiated the First Year Experience Program for entering students that included a national award winning freshman advising program and increased student retention. Maureen received her Doctor of Philosophy in Management and Higher Education Administration from the University of Miami (FL).
Reverend J. Wayne Clark
As an ordained United Methodist minister, Wayne has served as pastor for congregations in Arkansas, Texas and England as well as serving as Chaplain at the Children's Medical Center (TX) and in campus ministry at Hendrix College (AR). Having experience in both the nonprofit sector and academic institutions, Wayne has a unique perspective on higher education. He has been very active in youth ministry on the local, state and national level throughout his career. As a pastor in campus ministry, he has counseled with students and families who are making decisions about college and who are experiencing the many challenges associated with the collegiate experience. Wayne holds a Bachelor of Arts from Hendrix College and Master of Theology from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University (TX). He is certified by the United Methodist Church to lead workshops in human sexuality and clinical pastoral education. Wayne teaches a freshman level course on how to succeed in college and conducts workshops in leadership development. Wayne is currently serving as President of the National Association of College and University Chaplains.
Dr. Mary-Beth A. Cooper
Mary-Beth received her Doctor of Philosophy in College and University Administration from Michigan State University, her Master of Business Administration from William E. Simon Graduate School (NY), and her Master of Education from the University of Georgia. She recently attended the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard (MA). Beginning her career as a resident coordinator at Ithaca College (NY), Mary-Beth moved on in student affairs at Michigan State University, St. John Fisher College (NY), the University of Rochester (NY), and Rochester Institute of Technology (NY). Now, as Vice President for Student Affairs, she is involved in the overall administration of the Institute and the division of student affairs. Mary-Beth offers consulting and training to other institutions and often presents at professional conferences for student affairs professionals. As an adjunct faculty member, she teaches a graduate seminar on women and leadership and a doctoral course on higher education administration and leadership. In 2004, Mary-Beth was awarded the Lifetime Service Award from the Northeast Association of College and University Housing Officers.
Dr. Charles J. Werring
Chuck is an expert in the field of housing and residence life. Receiving his Doctor of Education from the University of Georgia and Master of Education in Student Personnel in Higher Education from Kansas State University, he went on to work at both institutions, accumulating 30 years of experience in student affairs. He has been responsible for student housing operations, including food service, maintenance and renovations, housekeeping, business operations, student contracts and assignments, information systems, family and guest housing, and summer conferences. Chuck has worked at coordinating the implementation of the American's with Disabilities Act on campus and is extensively involved with campus safety and security, violence prevention, multicultural and diversity programs, student recreational and social programs, student government, judicial affairs, and traffic, parking and police operations. As a campus administrator and faculty member, Chuck has conducted orientation for incoming undergraduate students, instructed resident assistant courses and graduate level courses in the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology. Chuck is an active member of the Association of College and University Housing Officers International (ACUHO-I) and has authored several articles and co-authored a chapter in Student Housing and Residential Life: A Handbook for Professionals Committed to Student Development Goals.
Michelle M. Brydon, M.S.
Michelle has been a college counselor for the past 15 years. She has counseled thousands of college bound students at the distinctive John Burroughs School and Clayton High School, both located in St. Louis, Missouri. Michelle is an accomplished student and parent advocate providing personal counseling, recommendation writing, coordination of standardized testing, management of student records and transcripts, facilitation of scholarship opportunities, financial aid information, and assistance throughout the college application process. Michelle has presented many programs to parents, students and counselors, as well as school districts. As an active member of the National Association of College Admission Counseling, Michelle is a frequent presenter on college admissions at professional conventions and meetings. Prior to entering the arena of college counseling, Michelle was on the other side of the playing field as the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission at the University of Miami (FL). She received both Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Education from the State University of New York.
Stacey Christensen, M.S.W.
After graduating from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Stacey ventured to Saudi Arabia and worked with George A. Fuller Construction Company. Upon returning to the states, she continued her career in the banking industry specifically managing student loan portfolios for colleges and universities nationwide. Subsequently, she was selected to serve as Bursar for the University of Miami (FL). While at the University of Miami, Stacey was involved in a variety of programs with students and parents including serving as a mentor for minority students and serving as a Fellow in the residential college system. In 1992, Stacey made a career change and completed a Master of Social Work at Barry University (FL) and has worked with many clients who have experienced significant life transitions. She is currently a work at home parent of two children.
Michele Yovanovich, M.Ed.
Michele has nearly 20 years experience working in higher education. She has held administrative and teaching positions at the University of Miami (FL), the University of Georgia, Edison College (FL) and Florida Gulf Coast University. Her scope of administrative experience includes directing student recruitment and admissions, student retention efforts such as orientation, advising, placement testing, tutoring programs, minority student affairs, the Project HOPE scholarship program, student government, and other student activities as well as alumni relations and institutional fundraising. Michele has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Georgia, the University of Miami (FL), and Edison College (FL) and has conducted workshops for the Anti Defamation League. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Stetson University (FL) and Master of Education in Student Personnel in Higher Education from the University of Georgia. Michele is a graduate of Leadership Lee County (FL) and mom to twin daughters.
