Programs Re:Sources Become a Partner

Customized Programs and Workshops

We believe it is essential that our clients are involved in experiences that address their needs and interests at various points during the process of transitioning to a new parenting role with their child as they enter college.

Our programs and workshops are customized for groups and individuals. Based on a pre-program consultation with Collegiate Parents, we will work with you to create an intervention that is informative and helpful.

Based on our extensive experience working with college students and their parents, we have identified several important areas of focus that can be incorporated into programs and workshops that can be offered to parents of college-bound students. Through this curriculum, parents will:

  • Develop an awareness of key dimensions of transitioning to a different parenting role as your child prepares for and begins the college experience.
  • Prepare for the college search by learning strategies for environmental scanning, questions to explore, and agreements to make.
  • Examine expectations for your students' collegiate experience and how those expectations influence the transition process.
  • Explore your personal approach to change and how that interfaces with your spouse and student during this time of transition.
  • Explore how your behavior style can impact your effectiveness in challenging and supporting your student in college.
  • Understand the developmental stages of college students to learn what to expect during your son or daughter's college experience.
  • Learn about predictable challenges, opportunities, and first semester marker events that face the Millennial Generation of college students.
  • Learn important coaching competencies you can use to enhance the capacity and confidence of your son or daughter in college.
  • Create a Reasonable Expectations Agreement as a tool for focused conversations and commitments between you and your student as they enter into college life.
  • Understand your role in building student self-efficacy by supporting student self-advocacy.
  • Learn tips for maintaining open lines of communication and connection between you and your college student.
  • Learn strategies for partnership building and communication with college officials to support your student's success in college.
  • Explore the boundary-breaking, opportunity-testing, and choice-making behaviors of students new to the college experience.
